PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect your email only if you hand it to us for the newsletter, we set no tracking cookies, we don't sell anything about you, and you can be forgotten with one email. The long version is below.
Who we are
Off the Cloud AI ("we", "us") runs the website at offthecloudai.com. We're based in Ireland. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. For any privacy question, email privacy@offthecloudai.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address — only if you sign up for the newsletter. We use it for one thing: sending you the newsletter. It's stored securely (Cloudflare Workers KV) and never sold or shared. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
- Technical data your browser sends, to serve and protect the site. Like any website, our host (Cloudflare) processes things such as your IP address and request details to deliver pages and block abuse. Our traffic analytics are aggregate and cookieless — we can see that, say, 200 people visited, not who you are.
- Your IP address, briefly, to stop signup abuse. When you submit the newsletter form we check your IP for a few seconds to rate-limit spam. It is not stored with your signup.
Cookies and YouTube
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies of its own — that's why there's no cookie wall; we've nothing to ask you about. Two honest details about YouTube:
- Video thumbnails. Pages that show video walls (like the home page) load thumbnail images from YouTube's servers (i.ytimg.com) when the page loads. That means your browser contacts Google to fetch those images, and Google can see your IP as part of serving them. No cookies are set by us to do this.
- The video players. The embedded players are loaded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and only when you actually click play. At that point YouTube/Google may set cookies under their own privacy policy.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We rely on your consent to send you the newsletter (you gave it by signing up, and you can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing). We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for the technical/security processing our host performs (serving pages, blocking abuse, aggregate cookieless analytics).
Who we share data with, and where
We don't sell or trade your data — ever. We rely on two service providers: Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, security, and storing the newsletter list) and YouTube/Google (thumbnails on load; the player only when you press play). Both are global providers, so your data may be processed on servers outside the EU/EEA; where that happens it's covered by the standard legal safeguards those providers offer (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable form — and you can unsubscribe at any time. To do any of these, email privacy@offthecloudai.com and we'll sort it. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
How long we keep things
We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it — then it's gone.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Since we don't do tracking or ads, we don't expect the substance to change much.
